Prodigy Prepares For H.N.I.C. 2 And Prison In January

Mobb Deep member Prodigy had a manic 2007. Early in the year, along with longtime collaborator and Mobb affiliate The Alchemist, the album Return of the Mac, peaking at #2 on the Billboard charts. However, as the summer progressed, an altercation with Saigon and accusations that 50 Cent released Prodigy from his G-Unit Records contract left things less than favorable.

After pleading guilty on October 9 to gun possession, a third of such offenses, 33 year-old Prodigy is being sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison, beginning January 9. Although it is unclear where the sentence will be served, Prodigy released the following statement through a publicist today, "Throughout my life, I have always lived through adversity. I'm a survivor. You don't understand the mental power that I have. While I'm locked up, I'm going to be writing lyrics, working on the script for my second feature film, Dope, and finish writing an autobiography of my life which will be finished by the time I'm released. My mind is going to be focused and I'll have time to think and map out my entire plan. The experience will make me a tougher, stronger person. I'm gonna work on getting out faster, so I can get back to doing what I do best. When I get home, it's gonna be on."

In the tradition of Shyne and Lil Kim, Prodigy will be releasing H.N.I.C. 2 (Head Nigga In Charge) this March while he is imprisoned. The album, said to be released on Koch Records, is slated to feature production by Mobb Deep partner Havoc and The Alchemist.

H.N.I.C. 2 will also feature Voxonic technology, endorsed by Andre Harrell, a converting software allowing the disc to be translated into French, Spanish, German and 1,397 other languages. While these efforts have been previously tested with Ky-mani Marley, Prodigy will become the first Hip Hop act to use this groundbreaking technology.
